Spray Glaze Workshop

Learn how to glaze using an air compressor and spray gun!

Workshop Details:

Hosted by Charles Singer. Sunday, February 12th noon-5pm, all levels

Demo will begin at noon sharp, please be on-time if you plan to participate!

Noon-1pm Demonstration how to prep the area with equipment needed, filter glazes, load and use gun + spraying methods

1pm-2pm Glaze your work with Charles available to help you glaze and answer questions

-if you have a gun, bring it!
-bring bisque ware to glaze

Surface Decoration Workshop

In one day, you’ll learn what would take a year of classes!

Workshop Details:

Presented by Jim Heuston. Saturday, October 11th 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Arrive no later than 8:45 AM for check-in. Available to currently enrolled students, 17 years old and up.

$120.00 paid at time of registration. Limited to 24 participants, all levels.

Morning Session: Will be presented through lecture and demonstration; an introduction to a variety of surface decorating techniques for different stages of development of work.

Included topics will be: the benefits and limitation of each technique, the materials (glass, engobes, stamps, textiles, nature, tools, wax, etc.) used and the benefits of making decorative stamping/texturing tools of you own design.

Afternoon Session: Will be hands on, assisted workshop. Participants will practice new techniques with their own designs on their own works.

Working with fresh soft clay; impressed, incised decoration, additive/sprigging techniques, using tools, making stamps and textured tools.

Working with green ware/leather hard clay; engobes, incised decoration, colored slips, mishima (inlay), sgraffito, and carving.

Working with bisque; engobes, glazing, wax resist, masking techniques, and glaze application.

What to Bring: Lunch, snack, drink (Water will be provided). 2-3 bisque pieces, 4”-8” in size. 2-3 leather hard, 4”-8” in size (Hand built or wheel thrown). Fresh clay, at least 10 pounds. Brushes, carving tools, tool kit. Artwork, photos, and anything that inspires design.

CASI will supply: Slips, engobes, stains, oxides, glazes, wax, stencil and masking supplies. Kiln firings are included.
